COLUMBUS—On Wednesday, the Senate unanimously passed legislation, sponsored by State Senator Lou Terhar (R-Green Township), which would designate a portion of Interstate 75 in Hamilton County as the "Lance Corporal Chistopher J. Dyer USMC, Lima Co, 3/25 Marines Memorial Highway."

"Many of the young Marines in Lima Company are from Hamilton and Franklin counties," said Senator Terhar. "This memorial highway is one small way to honor not only Lance Corporal Dyer, but all those from that unit who made the ultimate sacrifice."

Lance Corporal Dyer, of Evendale, Ohio, was killed at the age of 19 on August 3, 2005, when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
His unit was one of the hardest hit during the operation, when 46 Marines and two Navy corpsman serving with the battalion lost their lives25 of those men were members of Lima Company.

Dyer was assigned to Lima Co, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division in Columbus, Ohio.

Senate Bill 185 will now go to the Ohio House of Representatives for further consideration.
