Columbus –Today, State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-North Avondale) took the oath of office to serve in the Ohio Senate for the 131st General Assembly.  Senator Thomas will represent the 9thSenate District that encompasses Cincinnati, Hollydale, St. Bernard, Elmwood Place, Norwood, Golf Manor, North College Hill, Mount Healthy, Wyoming, Lincoln Heights, Silverton, and Springfield Township.
 
“I am humbled and honored to represent Senate District 9 in the 131st Ohio General Assembly. I look forward to applying my experiences as a Cincinnati community leader, police officer, and city councilman in this exciting new role.”
 
Cecil Thomas brings over forty years of experience in public service to the Ohio Senate. Following his twenty-seven years at the Cincinnati Police Department, he continued to serve the community as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission and as a city councilmember.
