Columbus---Today, State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 4 to urge MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred to reinstate Pete Rose to Major League Baseball. The resolution also encourages the Baseball Writers' Association to consider Pete Rose for induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

"This is the right time for the baseball community to welcome Pete Rose back into the game as a living legend," said Senator Thomas. "In recognition of his contributions, "The Hit King" should be permitted to participate in the All-Star festivities that will take place this summer."

The 2015 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be held on July 14th at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, the city where Rose spent a majority of his career as a player and manager.

In August of 1989, Rose was voluntarily placed on Major League Baseball's ineligible list in response to an investigation into his gambling activities.

Rose is baseball's all-time hit leader and a 17-time All-Star as well as the winner of three batting titles and two Gold Gloves. He also won three World Series titles, two with the Cincinnati Reds and one with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The resolution has received bipartisan support in the Ohio Senate from Senators Bill Seitz (R-Cincinnati), Shannon Jones (R-Springboro) and Jim Hughes (R-Columbus).
