WILMINGTON, OH-- Today, State Senator Cecil Thomas (D-Cincinnati) released the following statement in response to the State of the State Address which took place at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington OH:

“I am glad to hear Governor Kasich prioritize assistance for low-income Ohioans and hope that this dialogue will have noticeable results. However, our state cannot afford to make it more expensive to be poor.

"The current budget proposal is full of tax shifting ideas that lay more of the burden on low-income Ohioans and do nothing but hold us back.

"It is also my hope that through bipartisan collaboration we can address the necessary investments for our future like quality education, healthcare, and thriving communities that spur employment and economic growth.”
