Senator Hackett Announces Millions For District Projects

Investment Represents First Phase of State Capital Budget Process

COLUMBUS—State Senator Bob Hackett (R-London) announced the investment of millions of dollars from the One-Time Strategic Community Investment Fund (OTSCIF) to fund meaningful projects that will benefit our local communities and residents for years to come.

"This really is a once-in-a-lifetime additional opportunity to fund these critical projects," said Senator Hackett. "From making sure Wright Patterson Air Force Base has the backing for future economic development to simply making sure our community centers are a welcoming and safe place for our children and families, these dollars help build a foundation for a positive future here at home."

The following are some of the projects awarded funding in Senate District 10:

$4 million for the Champion City Sports and Wellness Center.
$3.5 million for the Wilmington Runway Reopening and Improvements.
$1.0 million for the Skyway SCIF Center.
$4 million additional investment on top of the House allocation to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The funding for these projects came from the unique, one-time fund established under the state's current operating budget, House Bill 33, passed by the Ohio General Assembly in June of 2023.

The OTSCIF set aside $700 million as an additional source of funding allowing communities and organizations to apply for help with projects that might not qualify as part of the state's traditional Capital Budget that happens every two years.

Each chamber developed a plan for $350 million of the total amount while coordinating good faith negotiations to determine projects for the OTSCIF.
