Cancel Culture vs Consequence Culture: Finding Peace and Guidance in the Good Book
A story this week in The Hill covered a new survey showing what most of us already knew, yet most of the media seems reluctant to step away from their talking points and cognitive dissonance.
“Liberals more likely to say political violence sometimes justified,” highlighted a YouGov survey taken after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It showed that 25% of those who identify as “very liberal” said violence is justifiable to achieve political goals, followed by 17% who identified simply as “liberal.”
Disturbing, yet those percentages fall well within the findings of a study by Columbia University scientists who reviewed more than 86,000 surveys from teenagers. The results show the rates of depression rising “most sharply” among progressive students.
A 2023 Tufts University study found liberals reported lower mental health and happiness levels than conservatives.
The left continued to reach new lows this week, when Friday it was reported by the Columbus Dispatch that the Ashland County Fair Board kicked the Ashland County Democratic Party out of the fair for handing out death threat swag from its booth.
Cleveland affiliate Fox 8 reported that Ashland County Sheriff Kurt Schneider said he was alerting the United States Secret Service. Political buttons displayed "8647" which is code for assassinating the President, while others were inscribed with "Is he dead yet" and "One day we will wake up to his obituary."
It went viral on Libs of TikTok which has 4.4 million followers on X.
Yet, the left and the legacy media keeps wanting you to think that conservatives are to blame.
This week, Cleveland.com’s “Today in Ohio Podcast” went all in on the left’s “We don’t know the motive, and political violence is a strictly a right-wing issue" narrative.
Here’s the exchange between Leila Atassi, the paper’s Impact Editor (whatever that means) and Lisa Garvin who is a member of the newspaper’s editorial board.
Atassi, says “How do we know what the motivation was in most of these cases? We don’t really know what it was in Kirk’s killing.” She even tried to pin it on his “conservative upbringing.”
This ignited a viral firestorm on social media when Libs of TikTok blasted cleveland.com's podcast for its false narrative.
Let's clear-up their confusion on left wing versus right wing violence.
Charlie Kirk assassination. Left wing.
Minnesota Catholic School shooting that killed 2 children and wounded 21 people. Left wing.
Assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania on President Trump. Left wing.
United Healthcare CEO murder on a New York City sidewalk. Left wing.
Nashville Convenant School shooting that killed 3 students and 3 staff members. Left wing.
You don’t have to have a PhD in criminology to see that so many of these crimes are being perpetrated by radicalized young people.
How are they being radicalized to the point of violence?
Is this the desensitized generation of the unhappy and undisciplined?
Senate Bill 1 that was signed into law here in Ohio is an important step in stopping the radicalized indoctrination of our young people. Senator Jerry Cirino's bill ended discriminatory DEI programs and addressed the unfair, unbalanced, and dangerous outcomes of a collective faculty that had lurched far to the left in both message and hiring influence.
It preserved the freedom of thought, debate, and education over the mantle of indoctrination.
Removing indoctrination reduces radicalization.
In this country, we are free to disagree on controversial topics. People can speak their mind under the First Amendment. The First Amendment protects speech, but it doesn’t protect employees from the consequences of violating the workplace policy handbook their employer has established.
Call it a shift from cancel culture to the culture of self-inflicted consequences.
As a former broadcaster, I miss watching "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson." Late night comedy shows are anything but that today. They’re full of condescension and disdain for conservatives. This week, Jimmy Kimmel learned that the airwaves aren’t his, and yes, the audience does matter. Dwindling ratings and his wrongful rant about right-wing violence got the show cancelled. America has had enough.
To reference the immortal Carson character, “Carnac the Magnificent:” What does the aft end of an equine, political piety, and an 11:30 time slot give you? A cue card that says, “That’s all folks.”
This week on the President’s Podcast we attempt to restore a little faith in our lives.
Pastors Brian Solomon and Brian Hanson from Ohio Capitol Ministries join us with some straight talk over some tough topics during these difficult times.
Why do bad things happen to good people?
