Fedor Comments on Supreme Court Decision to Strike Down State Legislative Maps
January 12, 2022
Today, state Senator Teresa Fedor (D-Toledo) released the following statement after the Ohio Supreme Court ruled to invalidate the state legislative maps adopted by the Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission. The court has given the commission 10 days to issue new maps that align with constitutional reforms:

“The Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission knew the maps they adopted were unconstitutional when they passed them. As elected officials, they broke their oath to abide by the Ohio Constitution. It is a shame Ohioans had to take their elected officials to court to get the Majority to do what is right for the people of Ohio. I commend the court’s ruling and am pleased that it has maintained jurisdiction to review the new maps. Maybe this time, knowing that the Supreme Court is watching, Republicans will follow the constitution.”
